learning beyond the classroom

Learning beyond the classroom - Last academic year, over 40 educational visits were arranged by teachers.  These include visits to environmental centres, museums, places of worship, galleries, theatres and much, much more. We believe passionately that learning goes beyond the classroom, especially as we live in arguably the most exciting city in the world! We are increasingly making use of video to respond to these experiences. Not only does this create excitement and inspire children but it also allows parents to share their child's experiences.
Using technology - We are making increasing use of technology to enhance and transform learning. 'Flipped learning' (teachers making tutorial videos for children to use at home and in class), use of online learning platforms, creative and extensive use of mobile technology. Special curriculum events – When we ask children what they enjoy most about school, they frequently mention special curriculum events.  Regular whole school events include International Day, the infant and junior nativity plays, the staff panto, St Margaret’s Got Talent and the Bishop's Lent Call, as well as our regular class assemblies throughout the year, where parents and carers are invited to see what children have been learning.  We also have special curriculum workshops for classes or groups of classes, where children are often inspired by the opportunity to do something 'a bit different'!
