Class information for parents Autumn term 2016 – Nursery

Main Autumn term topics

London Life, Pirate Life, Traditional Tales, Growing and Festivals. This term will be very much focused on settling in and getting to know their surroundings. They will work on making new friends, becoming more confident and learning to play alongside their peers.

Contacting the class teacher

If you have a query, the best thing to do is speak to the class teacher briefly either before or after school.  If it requires more time to discuss, let Charlotte or Rodney know and we will find time for you.

Parents meeting and book look dates

These are not the same as the rest of the school – in Nursery, you can drop by whenever you want!  Every child has a folder with their mark making/writing in and your child’s learning is recorded using our ‘2BuildaProfile’ recording system.  As it is computer-based, we ask that you give a day’s notice so we can create a pdf document for you to view.  We continually add to this profile and it provides a great picture of your child’s progress.  We recommend that you have a look towards the end of the term as there will be more content and you will be able to see the progress your child has made since starting.

Curriculum evening / Annual Governors’ Meeting for Parents

Tuesday 11th October   Among other things, this will be a chance to find out how you can help your child with learning at home.  It’s also a really good way of finding out more about the school, how it is governed and what is happening in school this year.

Friends’ welcome evening (AGM)

22nd September 8pm.  This is a great way to meet new parents, find out what the Friends do to support the school and maybe get involved yourself!  Very friendly and welcoming!

Parent meetings

10th 11th 12th 13th & 14th October and 17th 18th 19th October.  Due to the timings of Nursery, we schedule these meetings before school, and after school.  To meet your needs, the slots are spread across the week and the sign-up sheets will be put up well in advance for you.

Parent drop-in sessions

‘Small World Workshop’

19th October.

Following on from the success of Nursery’s previous workshops we will be inviting parents and carers in to work alongside the children, building and playing with the small worlds that can be made using recycled toys and packaging.  Bring any old (small) toys and recyclable packaging and materials you’d like to use.

Home Learning Journey

Out on Thursday, in at any point the following week before Thursday.

If your child has medicine to take during the school day, this should be handed in to the office, with a GP letter. Charlotte or Rodney will administer this if needed during the school day.

Drop off / pick up

Please let us know if there are any changes to who is picking up your child.  The best way to do this to either informing Charlotte or Rodney at drop-off, or contacting the school office (02088523151 or ) who will pass the message on to the teacher.

Nursery children have a jug and cups out in class, therefore no extra bottles are needed.

Please note that birthday cakes, sweets etc. are not permitted but we have a ‘birthday hat’ and song for your child on their special day!
